A big seasonal hug and thank you to all of you for being there and supporting Woe Men.
It’s been a huge thing for me to get this newsletter going and keep it going. It is an indulgent thing in many ways, a desire to get some part of me out there and raise some of the things that I think about and think are important. It’s also done in the hope that it strikes a chord with someone, particularly men who might not always have the time or the nerve to properly focus on themselves and wonder what it’s all about.
I’d like to do so much more with Woe Men. The twin constraints of time and money mean I can only manage a fortnightly post, and so far I’ve not found the time or energy to interview people, which is what I’d really like to do. I want to talk to and hear from men (and women too) about men and our lives and our thoughts, hopes, fears, ambitions, loves.
I’m hoping to get round to this in 2024 (but don’t hold me to that). In the meantime a very merry Christmas to you and your loved ones. And do please keep reading and sharing Woe Men!
And as a little present, here’s a great piece Kevin Maher, The Times’ film critic, wrote recently about going (reluctantly) on a men’s retreat. ‘And I don’t even like men!’ is his opening line. That got my interest immediately.
Thanks
David
Merry Christmas to you as well. Only discovered your newsletter yesterday, what a gem, look forward to reading it in 2024.
